1 November 2016

Friday 21st October – The Lord Mayor, business leaders and dignitaries headed to the rooftop of the new Southampton Harbour Hotel today, to celebrate the milestone progress of the exciting new development.

The final phase of the redevelopment of Ocean Village is on schedule for completion in 2017, introducing a five-star standard Harbour Hotel to Southampton. Making it one of the most desirable marina locations in the UK, the hotel’s unique luxury yacht inspired design will reflect Southampton’s thriving marine culture.

Bouygues UK is constructing the project. Speaking of the luxury development, Darren Gill, Bouygues UK Managing Director for the South said:

“Ocean Village has revitalised this part of Southampton and we are very proud to be part of such an important development. Reaching this stage of the overall scheme is a fantastic milestone in the city’s regeneration programme and we are pleased to be making such good progress in a city which continues to be a strong and important market for us.”

Mike Warren, Managing Director of Harbour Hotels, said of the development:

“We are delighted that our new Southampton Harbour Hotel & Spa is on course for opening in 2017. We are very confident that the hotel, award-winning Jetty restaurant concept, luxury Harbour Spa and flexible function spaces will prove a fabulous addition to the city.”

Nicolas Roach, Chairman of Nicolas James Group who are managing the development, said:

“We are very excited that our luxury development scheme is set to open summer 2017; our new five star Harbour Hotel and  Alexandra Wharf apartments will complete Ocean Village and seal its reputation as the finest location in the city to live and work.”

Set to include 85 bedrooms, the hotel will feature an indulgent Harbour Spa, with gym and swimming pool, along with the Group’s award-winning Jetty restaurant concept and a luxurious rooftop Champagne Bar.

Headed up by Chef Patron Alex Aitken, The Jetty brand successfully champions sustainable, local seafood, with a series of accolades to support this; most recently as the ‘UK’s Seafood Restaurant of the Year 2016’.

The ground floor is set to include a large open plan lounge for informal meetings and afternoon teas, as well as a number of flexible meetings and events rooms. Businesses will benefit further from use of these exclusive spaces, all set in contemporary and stylish surroundings.

The hotel’s rooftop will boast a second restaurant, complete with an extensive terrace, premium Champagne bar and spectacular views across the marina.

With the Group’s unique Harbour Spa brand established across its hotels, expect luxury facilities alongside indulgent treatments. Recently described by Harper’s Bazaar magazine as “world-class”, the brand will now feature at the Southampton Harbour Hotel & Spa; to include an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, hydrotherapy pool and relaxation areas.  Locals will enjoy membership options, with full use of the spa, fitness classes and exclusive offers.

Creating local jobs and driving tourism, this is an exciting time for both Harbour Hotels and Ocean Village. Attracting new visitors and driving footfall for locally based companies based, the hotel will no doubt add value and desirability to the area.
