Significant Progress Made on Fourth Phase of Hallsville Quarter Regeneration

03/12/2024

Bouygues UK is making excellent progress building for the fourth phase of the regeneration of Hallsville Quarter in Canning Town, London, forming part of the £3.7 billion Canning Town and Custom House Regeneration Programme. The project has now reached the 9th floor of the 11-storey development and is expected to reach the topping out milestone in January 2025.

Phase 4 of Hallsville Quarter, a joint venture between Crosstree Real Estate Partners and Bouygues UK’s development arm, will be a new and exciting home for London students. Designed by PRP Architects with interiors by Holloway Li, this purpose-build student accommodation project features 375 purpose-built student accommodation rooms, state-of-the-art amenities, a roof terrace, and a beautifully landscaped public realm.

Bouygues UK, the main contractor, will implement a low-carbon, sustainable approach, aiming for BREEAM Excellent certification. The contractor aims to enhance construction efficiency and sustainability with features such as fully pre-fabricated bathrooms, as well as self-delivering the building’s concrete frame and some internal finishing works.

This phase represents the penultimate stage of the £600 million Hallsville Quarter Masterplan and is set to be completed by the summer of 2026, in time for the 2026/2027 academic year.

Upon completion, the Hallsville Quarter development will offer over 1,100 private and affordable homes, more than 30,000 square meters of leisure and retail space, and a new hotel, all conveniently located opposite Canning Town underground station. The masterplan will also feature new public spaces, pedestrian links, cyclist provisions, and secure parking facilities.

Amine Azidine, Projects Director at Bouygues UK said,

It’s great to see the fourth phase of the Hallsville Quarter Regeneration progressing so well. This project is all about making a positive impact on the community and creating a great place for people to live. The location of this development, in the thriving new town centre in Canning Town, will provide a really vibrant area for students with excellent links into the centre of London.

Social value is at the heart of the project and Bouygues UK is collaborating with local schools running CV writing workshops and conducting mock interviews in addition to volunteering in the local community and organising charity initiatives. The project is offering 10 weeks of work experience opportunities with local schools, two paid placements for UEL engineering master’s students, and provisions for 12 apprenticeships starting next year. It is also supporting local employment through initiatives such as a half-day course for 20 local people, in collaboration with Newham Works. With a longstanding presence in the borough, Bouygues UK has teamed up with Morgan Sindall to establish a Construction Working Group. This group consists of contractors, training providers, and local colleges, and aims to collaborate on social value initiatives, share best practices, and address common challenges. The comprehensive approach ensures the Hallsville Quarter development not only transforms the urban landscape but also contributes positively to the local community.

Bouygues UK remains committed to delivering high-quality, sustainable developments that create lasting benefits for residents and the broader community.
