Seen the Stories Partnership

06/11/2024

We are excited to announce a new partnership with artist and storyteller Meg Khan, creator of the Seen the Stories initiative.

Our partnership with Meg is rooted in our commitment to supporting women on their journey to finding their voice and sense of empowerment. We are passionate about promoting young individuals, helping to raise their profiles within our communities and encouraging them to choose careers in industries they may not have had the confidence to consider previously.

Meg’s inspiring project began in 2020 as a way to honour individual stories, spark connections and increase visibility through portraiture and personal narrative. Today, her work shares compelling stories from people across London and beyond, capturing the richness of diverse lives and experiences.

As Bouygues UK embarks on this journey alongside our colleagues at Colas, Colas Rail, and Equans, we are thrilled to see Meg work with so many of our own female colleagues, amplifying their voices and achievements through Seen the Stories. We hope this collaboration encourages young women considering careers in construction and engineering to recognise their potential and see themselves reflected in these industries.

In Newham, Meg’s work resonates deeply. As a former student and a current governor of Plashet School, Meg is closely tied to this community, as is Bouygues UK. Her initiative, born in the very borough where we are building the future of Canning Town through the delivery of the Hallsville Quarter, aligns with our vision to support local talent and create lasting connections.

Emmanuelle Rodarie, Director of Communications and CSR at Bouygues UK said:

In our industries, which have traditionally been male dominated, attracting and retaining women at all levels is not just a challenge, it’s a mission.  We strongly believe that when women leaders share their stories, they redefine what is possible for women and girls. Yet, despite that, research shows that women are less likely to tell their own stories. Their stories need to be celebrated and that’s how our partnership with Meg began. Thank you, Meg, for this incredible opportunity and for helping us shine a light on these inspiring narratives.

At Bouygues UK, we believe in the power of storytelling and its ability to redefine possibilities. We look forward to continuing our journey with Meg, celebrating the strength, diversity, and voices of women – not only in Newham but across our projects and our client partnerships. Through Meg’s lens, we hope these stories are not only seen, but also heard so they can pave the way for many more women to come, inspiring and empowering them to reach their full potential.
