At Bouygues UK, we believe in creating opportunities that prepare young people for successful careers. This is why we are strong supporters of T-Levels, a two-year technical qualification for 16–19-year-olds, designed to bridge the gap between education and the workplace. With 80% classroom learning and 20% industry placement, T-Levels provide a unique balance of theory and hands-on experience, equipping students with the skills they need to thrive.

A Personal Perspective

My passion for education and professional development stems from my own career journey. Over the past 20 years, my role has evolved from career support to social value, but my commitment to helping individuals unlock their potential has remained the same.

I have seen first-hand how practical experience transforms career prospects. T-Levels provide that crucial exposure, giving students confidence, industry insights, and a real advantage when stepping into the workforce. At Bouygues UK, we want to nurture this talent, ensuring that young people have the skills, knowledge, and experience to build successful careers in construction and beyond.

Why Bouygues UK Supports T-Levels

We are committed to developing the next generation of talent by guaranteeing exposure to practical industry experience in construction and the built environment. Under the Department for Education (DfE) framework, Bouygues UK is committed to delivering one T-Level placement per £3 million of project value, resulting in 60 placements across our projects, with a potential for 85 more in future bids.

As part of this commitment, we have rolled out our Design, Surveying, and Planning pathway, delivered in partnership with Class of Your Own and Chichester and Brighton FE College. This initiative provides a structured work placement programme that can be implemented consistently across our sites. By collaborating with education specialists, we are ensuring students receive high-quality, real-world learning experiences.

Building the Future through T-Levels

By continuing to support T-Levels and invest in young talent today, we can shape our workforce of tomorrow, ensuring it becomes more resilient. There is no doubt that those who come through T-Level programmes into construction will help mitigate the skill gaps and build a brighter future of construction.

At Bouygues UK, T-Levels serve as a vital first step in the career journey of our next generation of talent. Once on this pathway, we provide ongoing support through a range of development programmes, from industrial placements to graduate schemes, ensuring they gain the skills and experience needed to thrive. Through this investment in early careers, we are securing the greatest individuals to drive the future of our industry.
